Practice Scholar (appx. ages 11-13)
"You have already taught him the Four Phases of Learning, so he knows that Scholar Phase is coming. He has lived Core Phase, so he knows he is loved and valued; his Love of Learning Phase helped him internalize that you have an important mission, and that one awaits him too."
The Phases of Learning
In the Practice Scholar classes we inspire youth to sample Scholarly studies. The classes are geared in such a way to personalize the education of each youth as they take another step in their Leadership Education.

Battle With the Bard
The objective of Battle With the Bard is to motivate the scholar to do the hard work of learning through: inspiring mentors, positive peer pressure, a culminating activity, outward motivations to choose (competitions and rewards), completing the project, and by planting seeds of determination to do hard work.
During the first semester, scholars become familiar with the challenging language of Shakespeare by studying Shakespearean plays and comparing them to more current classics. The scholars will further be challenged to give an oral presentation on medieval life and history, watch or read 17 of Shakespeare’s plays, memorize a passage from a play, and participate in a Medieval Family Fair. The second semester focuses on actor training and implementing everything learned about language and human nature by preparing and performing a Shakespeare Comedy in the spring.
