Self Directed Scholar (appx. ages 15-17)
"The Self-Directed Scholar studies eight to twelve hours a day, five to six days a week, ten to twelve months a year for three to four years. This 5,000 to 8,000 hours of intense study builds a huge base of knowledge and skill which can be applied to whatever mission the later adult embarks upon."

Mentors, parents, and youth work together to create an atmosphere of great learning and inspiration for each individual student. The mentors seek to have the greatest number of transformational moments during class time using a mix of the different environments of learning.

SLOTS
This class involves the skill of canyoneering parallel to the principles of leadership. Students will learn about the leadership qualities of great people in history. Discussion, reading and writing will all be ways that they will learn and internalize these skills. The capstone of the course is a field trip to a canyon where the scholars will utilize the technical and leadership skills they have learned to descend a technical canyon.
The students will walk away knowing they can do hard things and that learning these skills when they are young will be helpful to them in the future so they can make a difference in the world and be the leaders of the next generation.

Leadership Project
In this class the students will focus on reading, writing and discussing, at length, about great statesman and other leaders to identify principles of liberty. Youth, parents, and mentors will work together to create an atmosphere focused on liberty by applying principles or ideals such as georgcis, liber, and public virtue.
The structure of the class will include the following elements:
- One on one mentoring environment.
- Reading and discussing of books that are youth selected.
- Working on individual projects of interest and sharing them with the class in a positive peer review environment.
- Class project each semester chosen by the class and worked on as a group mostly outside of class.The teaching of leadership skills, study skills, and core values through document studies, short stories, transformational models, simulations, group activities, colloquium, and field trips.
